English IT day assignment

Task 1

Euthanasia is the act or practice of painlessly ending the life of an animal or a willing individual who has a terminal illness or incurable condition, as by giving a lethal drug

What do you think are the feelings of the patient ?
I think that a patient who is suffering may feel very tired and does not want to continue on with his or her life. While some other people may also think that no matter what , life is precious and will never try to end it. Although i have never experienced how a patient may feel, but i think that a patient who has been ill for quite a long time may feel tired and does not want to be a burden to his family members as they are paying for the medical fees. He or she may know that the illness is not going to recover although they are unconscious and want euthanasia to be used on him or her.

Does your religion have an opinion ?
My religion does not have any opinions to euthanasia, but i think people will have different opinions on it as they may have different viewpoints, no matter what is their religion. Although we may not think that euthanasia is a crime or whatsoever, we must not apply it if we are not severly ill. People who are facing problems but are not terminally ill should not be killed even though they asked for it. We should treasure our lives.

What is the law in Singapore with regards to euthanasia?
No person can consent to being killed. Hence, euthanasia is illegal in Singapore and may amount to murder. Although euthanasia is illegal, the law generally recognises that a person owns his own body. He is therefore entitled to decide to live or die. Thus, under the Penal Code, suicide has never been a crime in Singapore.
